On Friday, May 12, the Escondido Charter High School (ECHS) will hold its 10th Anniversary celebration and Phase II kick-off with a live broadcast featuring Southern California's Number 1 talk show host, Roger Hedgecock, and other invited guests. This event will officially start Phase II of the school's construction plans at the campus, which will include a 400-seat state-of-the-art Theater, Gymnasium, and Warehouse.
ECHS needs to raise $2 million of the $8.4 million needed to complete Phase II. Financial donations to the Building Fund are welcomed. In addition, donations of materials and/or use of construction equipment would be greatly appreciated. For licensed contractors who would like to bid on a portion of the project, contact the construction manager, David Pettigrew at Competitive Edge Construction, Inc., 480-2675.
If ECHS receives a donation that exceeds $1 million, they would consider placing the donor's name (naming rights) on one of the buildings. For additional information about this project, call Dennis "Coach" Snyder at 737-3154.
Y-ME Breast Cancer Organization Plans "Walk to Empower"
The Walk is a family-oriented event, offering a three-mile route, entertainment and festivities, along with the guarantee of a deeply meaningful and truly empowering Mother’s Day morning. Y-ME's Walk to Empower will take place at Mission Bay Park on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14 at 9am. This Mother's Day, participants in San Diego will join Y-ME's more than 40,000 other walkers as part of a national effort to ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone.
There is no registration fee to participate in Y-ME's Walk to Empower, but all walkers are asked to set a goal to raise $100, and Y-ME provides a keepsake Walk to Empower T-shirt to all who meet or exceed that target. Funds raised will help expand local programs and services, which are offered free of charge to those touched by breast cancer—including the National Breast Cancer Hotline. Additional prizes will be given to those raising $250 or more. If you need more information, contact The Social Butterfly at 747-7119 or email@example.com.
