It's Tea Time!

"All About Tea" is the theme of the San Marcos-Vista Christian Women's Club luncheon on Monday, June 19, at 11:30am at the Lake San Marcos Country Club, 1750 San Pablo Drive, San Marcos.

The special feature will be a presentation on how to have a perfect tea party. The speaker will be Charlotte Rowett from Yorba Linda, a motivational and inspirational speaker and former pre-school teacher, who will present "A Guide Book for the Rough Road." Special music will be performed by Julia Chadwell, a professional singer, from Vista.

The club has no membership or dues. All ladies are invited and encouraged to make reservations by Thursday, June 15. Cost of the luncheon is $11.00 inclusive. Family Open House and Toy Train Meet Scheduled

Saturday, June 17, is the date for the All Gauge Toy Train Association of San Diego's 21st Annual Family Open House and Toy Train Meet. Table set-up starts at 7:30am; Sellers set-up at 8am; and it's open to the public at 9am. The giant raffle will go off at 1pm.

There is free admission and parking, with food and beverages available on site. The event is staged at the Torrey Pines Christian Church, 8320 La Jolla Scenic Drive North, La Jolla.

Pre-paid 6-ft. tables are $10/each; two or more, $9/each. Tables must be reserved by 6pm Saturday, June 10. After that date, tables, if available, will be $15/each. For table reservations, call Anthony Tarantino, 6444 Corsica Way, San Diego, 92111, or by calling 858.569.6603.

Getty Museum Trip Planned

A bus trip to the Getty Museum in Malibu has been scheduled and is being sponsored by the Singles Group of the United Methodist Church. The trip is open to the public, The bus will leave the church at Fourth and Maple in Escondido at 9am, Saturday, July 1, and return about 7pm. Cost is $25/person.

Reservations may be made by June 11 with Ann at 745-6139. A box lunch including a drink can be ordered for $18 by notifying Ann by June 11.

The Museum is newly reopened and features art from Italy and Greece. Those taking the trip are advised to wear walking shoes. Food is available for purchase at the museum also.

San Marcos Chamber Plans Annual Golf Tournament

The Annual Golf Tournament of the San Marcos Chamber is scheduled for Friday, June 23, at the Lake San Marcos Resort & Country Club, 1025 La Bonita Drive, Lake San Marcos. The cost is $225/person. Check-in time is 11am, with lunch and a putting contest to follow and the shotgun start is at 1pm. The Awards Reception is 6pm. The course will contain several special contests along the way, with prizes for the winners.

The deadline for registration has past, however, you may want to contact the San Marcos Chamber to see if space is available. Also, there are opportunities for Sponsorships in several catagories. Call 744-1270 for more information.

Enrolled Agent Examination Course Scheduled

The 16th Annual Enrolled Agent Exam Course, conducted by Palomar Chapter of CSEA/NAEA, will begin at 8:30am on Saturday, July 8, at The Beautiful Savior Lutheran School, 3030 Valley Street, Carlsbad.

Classes will be conducted each Saturday morning thereafter through September 30, with the Internal Revenue Service administered EA Exam to be held during October. Instructors for this year's classes are Charlotte Hotchkiss, EA; John Haggerty, EA; Earl "Tony" Davis, EA; and Joseph Doering, EA. The total cost for the course is $550, and includes tuition, texts, and all handouts necessary for the course and the Exam.

All persons desiring to take the course and subsequent exam are encouraged to contact Joseph Doering at 489-9483 for enrollment forms and additional information regarding the course. Advanced registration is required by Saturday, June 24th, with a $100 minimum deposit to ensure a place in the classroom. "Ethics In The Media" is Program at AAUW Meeting

When the American Association of University Women meet on Saturday, June 17, Tim Wulfemeyer will present the program "Ethics In The Media." He is a Professor at the School of Journalism and Coordinator of the Journalism Degree Program at SDSU. In addition, Donna Lily, Co-President of CA AAUW, will install the officers for 2006-2007. The meeting starts at 10am, at the Escondido Country Club, 1800 Country Club Lane. Visitors/guests are welcome. Buffet lunch is $15/person. RSVP to Ann Savage at 745-6139.

San Marcos Lions Club Looking For A Few Good People

The San Marcos Lions Club is looking for people to join their biweekly meetings. A service organization, Lions are recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired.

Saturday, June 10, is the date for the Hearing Loss Association monthly meeting, starting at 10am, at the Joslyn Senior Center in Escondido. Ken and Rosemary Patterson will talk about how the hard of hearing person hears (or doesn't hear) verbal soft sounds. They are owners of The Auditory Assistants Hearing Aid Center, and instrumental in establishing this chapter of what was formerly known as SHHH (Self Help for the Hard of Hearing).
