"Patriotic Celebration" Theme of Christian Women's Club Luncheon

A "Patriotic Celebration" is the theme of the San Marcos-Vista Christian Women's Club luncheon on Monday, July 17, starting at 11:30am, at the Lake San Marcos Country Club, 1750 San Pablo Drive, Lake San Marcos.

The speaker will be Diana Taylor from San Diego, a motivational and inspirational speaker and a published author. She will share how "a runaway finds her home." Entertainment will be special patriotic and sacred music by Tracy Pear, a professional singer from Carlsbad. A special feature will be a "cake walk," with some special cakes to be given away.

All attendees are asked to wear red, white and/or blue. The club has no membership or dues. Cost of the luncheon is $11/inclusive. Reservations are encouraged by today, Thursday, July 13, by calling Vera at 727-1372 or Muriel at 744-3744.

Escondido Woman's Club to Hold Membership Coffee

The Woman's Club of Escondido will hold a membership coffee on Wednesday, July 19, from 9am-11am, at the Woman's Clubhouse, 751 North Rose, Escondido. The event is open to all women in the area. It is called Christmas in July and will feature a holiday theme. Lite refreshments will be served. For information and/or reservations, call Barbara at 471-9564.

Trip Scheduled to Getty Villa in Malibu

Due to the great interest shown in the bus trip to the re-opened Getty Villa in Malibu, the Singles Group of the First Methodist Church of Escondido has scheduled another trip. It will be Saturday, August 12, and will leave the church parking lot at Fourth and Kalmia, Escondido, at 9am. The return will be at approximately 7pm. The cost is $25/person, and reservations must be made by Tuesday, August 1, with Ann at 745.6139.

AAUW to Hold membership Coffees

The Escondido Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold two membership coffees; the first one at the home of Joyce Prager, 1545 Anthony Heights Drive, Escondido, at 1:30pm on Wednesday, July 19. Light dessert and beverages will be served. The second one will be at 9:30am Tuesday, July 25, at the home of Shirley Schaper. All women holding college degrees, including Associate of Arts Degrees from community colleges, are invited. Registered nurses are also invited and are eligible to become members. Multi-Chamber Mixer to be Hosted by Tri-City Medical Center

To celebrate Tri-City Medical Center's alliance with area chambers and the Medical Center's 45th birthday, they will host a multi-Chamber business mixer on Thursday, July 20, from 4-7pm, in the Assembly Rooms at Tri-City, 4002 Vista Way, Oceanside. Participating chambers are San Marcos, Oceanside, Carlsbad, and Vista, and elected officials from those communities.

Tri-City Hospital opened July 16, 1961. Known for their delicious, gourmet cuisine and beautiful displays, the Center's renowned catering department is planning a gourmet delight to include a fresh seafood display, carving station, international food stations with made-to-order delectable fare, homemade delicacies, and a layered birthday cake for their 45th birthday celebration. Escondido Rotary Inducts New Members

Past President Peter Wolf had the honor of inducting two new club members at a meeting of the Escondido Rotary recently, bringing the club membership to 218. Michael Milam with Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps was sponsored by Patty Greiss, and Mike Caston sponsored Jennifer Walters. Jennifer is the new Superintendent of the Escondido Union School District, and the sister of club member Julie Schardin.

New Singles Group Formed

The Seaside Singles 55+, a new group, was formed to meet, mingle and socialize. The Happy Hour will be from 5-7pm, the third Thursday, July 20, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 6450 Carlsbad Blvd., Carlsbad (Phone: 476-0800). Sound Of Music Coming

Tuesday, July 18, will be a preview night for the "Sound of Music" at the Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista, and proceeds will benefit Operation H.O.P.E., an emergency family shelter. Cost is $15/person, starts at 8pm, and is open seating. For those who might be interested, Feliccia's Italian Restaurant is offering dinner that evening for $30/person, to benefit the H.O.P.E. shelter.

Singles Group to Hold Theatre Party/Chili Supper

The Singles Group of the First Methodist Church will hold a theatre party and chili supper beginning at 2pm, Sunday, July 16. The group will attend the matinee performance of the play, "Mousetrap," at the Patio Playhouse, then the chili supper will be at a member's home.
