Dixon Lake Report
by Ranger Jim Dayberry
There were no trout reported to the ranger station this week.
Bass action was slow again. No large bass were reported to the staff.
Catfishing was fair. The bite was good. The crowds have been light. Most of the fish are between 1-3 pounds. Mackerel and anchovies are working best. The fish are being taken out at the buoy line. The shoreline by the boat dock is producing fair numbers of fish. Night fishing will run from Thursday-Saturday nights ONLY! We will no longer be open on Wednesday nights. The lake will be open from 5 PM to 11:45 PM for night fishing on these three days only. Boat rental rates will be $20 for motor boats and $10 for row boats. Rental boats will be called in at 10:45 PM as always. No alcohol or gas lanterns are allowed.
Lake Wohlford Report
by Ranger Fred Costa
Catfish action has been best at the buoy lines and in Oakvale Cove with mostly small to mid-sized cats striking nightcrawlers, chicken liver, or shrimp.
Late season Bass action has recently improved with small to
midsized largemouths moving in to about 10' depths. Early mornings have been more productive while the shad are working along the shoreline. Mike Kostial of Oceanside caught and released a 5 # 3 Bass
that struck a Senko lure in Boat Dock Cove. Small sized Bluegill are biting along the weed beds near Oakvale Cove on meal worms. For fishing conditions, contact the Ranger Station at 839-4346.
