Escondido Children's Museum to Hold Educator Open House
Wednesday, September 27, from 4pm-6pm, educators are invited to take a tour of the Escondido Children’s Museum and hear about upcoming programs and unique opportunities for their students.
The Museum also can arrange for children's birthday parties at the Museum, with three options available; one is an all inclusive party package; two, the parent prepares the party and has two-hour private use of the museum; and three, pre-booked play time with unlimited play time during business hours with parents providing off-site celebration. San Marcos Chamber Mixer to be Held at
Lake San Marcos
Next Thursday, September 28, the Chamber's monthly Mixer will be held at Lake San Marcos, with food provided by The Quail. It will run from 5:30pm-7:30pm, at the lakefront resort. "A Western Round-up of Family & Friends" Planned by
Redwood Elderlink has scheduled their 5th Annual Western fundraiser; this one titled "A Western Round-up of Family and Friends." The fun goes from 4-8pm on Saturday, October 7, with entertainment by Eve Selis and Berkley Hart starting at 4:30, and a barbeque dinner, hosted beer and wine, silent and live auctions, and opportunity drawings round out the evening.

The "Y" Goes Mediterranean
Saturday, September 30, starting at 6pm, the Palomar Family YMCA will hold a fundraiser entitled "Shell Out for the Y". There will be an auction, dinner and dance. Children's Museum to Present Moonlight Masquerade "Once Upon A Time"
At the Belle Marie Winery, on Saturday, October 7, starting at 6pm, will be an enchanting Moonlight Masquerade evening with the theme "Once Upon A Time" and will benefit the Escondido Children's Museum. Illegal Immigrants and Overcrowded Housing - What's the Answer for Escondido?
The controversial question of whether to exclude illegal immigrants from rental housing is the topic of the Saturday, September 23 meeting of the Escondido Democratic Club. Guest speakers are Consuelo Martinez, coordinator of the Escondido Human Rights Committee, and Christian Ramirez, San Diego area director of the American Friends Service Committee.

Candidates to be Featured at The Big
Candidates, elected officials and North County politicos are invited for an afternoon of food, music, and fun for the whole family at the Big Blue BBQ, scheduled from 2-5pm, Sunday, October 1, at Felicita Park in Escondido. Radio talk show host Jon Elliott of KLSD AM1360 will serve as master of ceremonies. Candidates for elected office at the state and local level have been invited, and many are expected to attend. The event is sponsored by the Escondido Democratic Club, Progressive Democrats of San Diego and North County Unity, the regional unit of the San Diego County Democratic Party.
Local talent will provide music; there will be games for all ages; and food will be a traditional family-style barbeque of hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the fixins. Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for children (10 and under) in advance; $25/adults and $10/children at the door. There is a park entrance fee of $2 per vehicle. San Diego Youth Symphony to Appear at Center for the Arts, Escondido
The California Center for the Arts, Escondido, now in its 12th season, will present an evening of extraordinary talent featuring young musicians of the San Diego Youth Symphony, with special appearances by Michael Viscardi, pianist, and Tina Guo, cellist. Mr. Viscardi, age 17, will be entering Harvard University in September and will make a special trip to San Diego for this October 1 performance. Miss Guo is a rising star who played with the Symphony and is now at UCLA.
The program will be Sunday, October 1, with a 3pm Wine Tasting in the Museum; the concert from 4-5:15pm in the Concert Hall, and a Reception and Dinner from 5:30-8pm in the Conference Center Salons.
The Center continues to promote talented youth of our region, and all funds raised from this event will ensure further development of these programs.
